4/7 — Hidden Until the Risen Life Within
"And he charged them that they should tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead." (Mark 9:9, ESV)
"I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now." (John 16:12, ESV)
Jesus instructs His disciples not to tell anyone about the transfiguration until after His resurrection. This command reveals a profound spiritual principle: true understanding of Jesus’ teaching and the fullness of His revelation come only after His resurrection life takes root within believers. Before that, much remains hidden or even unbearable because the heart is not yet prepared to fully grasp the deep reality of Christ’s victory over death and sin.
The resurrection is not merely a past event but an ongoing reality that must be internalized by the believer. Resurrection life brings spiritual sight and discernment, illuminating truths that were previously obscure or confusing. Without this life, the teachings of Jesus can seem impossible to comprehend or too demanding to accept. The heart hardened by preconceptions or sin cannot receive new revelations from God, as God’s Spirit reveals truth only to those open and yielded to Him.
Paul echoes this by stating that we are being transformed day by day into Christ’s image (2 Corinthians 3:18). Sanctification is the process by which the risen life of Christ increasingly rules within us, enabling us to understand and live out His teachings. When Christ is truly formed in a believer, the Word of God becomes clear and compelling rather than burdensome or confusing.
Therefore, the silence before resurrection is not a denial but a preparation. It calls believers to communion with the risen Savior, trusting that as His life fills us, what was once hidden will become wonderfully plain. The key to deeper understanding is not just intellectual assent but the spiritual transformation brought about by Christ’s resurrection life residing within.
Proverbs 14:8 - "The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception."
Proverbs 16:16 - "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!"
Psalm 25:4-5 - "Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."
Psalm 119:130 - "The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple."
Lord Jesus, help me to welcome your resurrection life within me, that your words might be plain and life-giving. Teach my heart by your Spirit and transform me day by day into your likeness. Keep me humble and open, so I may receive your truth in its fullness. Amen.
